Clanmil wins Silver accreditation for customer engagement Posted on 31 March 2025
Clanmil Housing has been awarded a Silver rating in Tenant Participation Accreditation in recognition of its achievements in customer engagement.
The award, which assessed Clanmil’s customer engagement activities since 2021, was made by Supporting Communities, an independent charity that supports tenant and community participation.
The Silver rating was achieved after an in-depth assessment of how Clanmil engages with and informs customers about services that affect them. Graded against ten core standards, Clanmil scored highly in areas such as the information it provides for customers; its customer involvement structures and engagement methods, and its partnership working with customers.

This is the first time that Clanmil has made a submission for the accreditation and the process involved gathering and submitting almost 400 pieces of documentary evidence. These were examined and rated according to Supporting Communities assessment framework, followed by a series of focus groups and interviews with customers and Clanmil colleagues.
Awarding the Tenant Participation Accreditation to Clanmil, Sheenagh McNally from Supporting Communities said:
“Congratulations to Clanmil Housing for achieving the Silver rating in Tenant Participation. This is a great achievement. The process of accreditation takes many months and huge effort from the applying organisation. Thanks to everyone who contributed in any way to the submission and who took part in interviews and focus groups. We wish everyone at Clanmil all the best as you continue on your customer engagement journey.”
Eliza Martin, Community Investment and Fundraising Manager at Clanmil said:
“We welcome this recognition of our work in customer engagement and wish to thank all those customers and colleagues who were involved in submitting information and taking part in focus groups with the assessors. Involving customers at all levels of decision making is one of our priorities and we value the contribution that people living in Clanmil homes make to the work we do. Whether it’s joining a Local Engagement Forum, inputting to a Service Improvement Panel or being part of the Customer Council, customer participation is so important for shaping our services. We will continue to do all we can to ensure customers feel involved and will examine the recommendations made by Supporting Communities so that we can work towards the next level of recognition, which is a Gold rating.”
The award was presented to Claire Darby, Clanmil's Senior Engagement Officer along with customers Jack Close and Margaret Preshur at the Clanmil Customer Engagement Conference which took place in Belfast.
